Terms of Service

last updated: April 2025

By using TaskMetrics you agree to the rules below. They are short, written in plain language, and meant to keep the service usable for everyone.

What the service does

TaskMetrics accepts a file from your browser, stores it in encrypted form for up to 24 hours, and gives you a link that anyone can use to download it during that window. After 24 hours the file is deleted. There is nothing else.

What you may not upload

If we are made aware of an upload that violates these rules, we will remove it. Repeat offenders may be blocked at the network level.

How you may use the service

Personal, professional, or hobbyist sharing is fine. Automating uploads at a rate that interferes with normal use is not. There is no published API at the moment; if you build one yourself, please do not hammer the endpoint.

No warranty

TaskMetrics is provided as-is, with no guarantee of uptime, data integrity, or fitness for any particular purpose. Do not use it as the only copy of an important file. If the service goes down for an afternoon, that is going to happen sometimes; one person runs it.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, the maintainer is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of TaskMetrics. The service is free; this is the price.

Termination

We may remove specific uploads, or block specific networks, at our discretion if they violate these terms. We may also shut the whole thing down if running it stops being feasible — see the about page for the funding model.

Governing law

Disputes related to these terms are governed by the laws of the maintainer's country of residence, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
